Now that the holidays are over and everyone is getting back in their routine, it can be hard to find times to have fun as a family. But don’t worry. You just have to look a little harder. One great option is to go see South Carolina Children’s Theatre’s production of Mr. Popper’s Penguins at the Gunter Theatre at the Peace Center.
About the Show
This show is terrific for families. Kids that are three years old and up will enjoy it the most. It runs for about an hour. You can catch Mr. Popper’s Penguins the weekends of January 26-27 and February 1-3. Both Saturdays have a 10 a.m. There’s also a 1:30 p.m. show on both Sundays. You can catch a performance on Sunday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m., and Friday, February 1 at 7 p.m., too.
The show is based on the beloved kids novel by Richard and Florence Atwater. But it’s really brought to life with music and lyrics by George Howe and the book by Robert Kauzlaric. According to the description on the show’s website, “Flippers-flapping, squawking, circus tricks, dancing… these are just a few of the things you’ll see. See what happens when boy penguin meets girl penguin under the care of the Poppers. These tuxedo-clad creatures will waddle their way into your heart.
